What is the ideal, or minimum number of pages for a website, especially for a small business?
You can create unlimited pages, but the bare minimum for a business should be a 5-page website.
What is a 5-page website?
A 5-page website of a business or brand is a simple one with 5 distinctive pages that contain all the essential information a visitor needs to know.
A 5-page website is enough for small businesses to establish a brand presence online.
What are the 5 types of web pages?
The 5 types of web pages every business website should have include:
1. Homepage
Your homepage is the most important page of your website. It is also your most important landing and sales page.
Include a brief overview of your brand on your homepage.
Introduce yourself, your business, your brand value proposition, and an overview of your products and services.
2. About Us page
The most important role of your about us page is to tell your brand story.
Share with your visitors who you are, what your mission and brand purpose is, and include information about your team members.
3. Contact us page
On your contact page, offer your visitors various channels to communicate with you, including email, social media, and a contact form.
You can also include your business address. I prefer to not include my phone number for privacy and security reasons, but you can add yours if you wish.
4. Product/ Services page(s)
In your product or service pages, list all your offers, products, and services in detail.
Include all the information that would be relevant to your audience.
5. Content page
The 5th page of your website depends on the type of business you have, but one of the major roles of a website should be to demonstrate your expertise through content.
Your business may need to create different kinds of content as per your digital content strategy and accordingly, this content page could be:
- Blog page: A list of all your blog posts
- Portfolio page:Â A gallery of your work
- News page: Latest news about your company and industry
How much does a 5-page website cost?
The cost of a 5-page website depends on 3 factors:
- Who is designing the website
- The platform used to create the website
- Website customizations
A simple website using WordPress or other page builders that you design yourself would cost around $500 annually for hosting and a content management system.
If you sign up for a website design package with a professional designer, the costs could be around $2500.
But a customized WordPress website or a custom one built by a web developer could cost at least $5000 or more.
How to make a 5-page website design yourself
If you don’t have coding or programming experience, the best way to make a 5 page website yourself is to use a website platform.
I prefer WordPress hands down, but you can also give other options like Wix or Squarespace a try.
Check out my post on the best website platforms for small businesses
1. Get a domain name
The first thing you need to create a 5-page website or any website is to buy a domain name. Preferably try to buy the same domain name as your brand, but you can also vary it a bit.
My company’s name is Ignite Branding and Marketing, but the domain is weignitegrowth.
Namecheap usually offers the cheapest prices for a domain name, starting at 99 cents.
2. Choose a website host and builder
You now need to decide if you want to use a website builder that is integrated with a host, like Wix, Shopify, and Squarespace, or a separate content system and hosts, like WordPress with Siteground or blueBluehost.
If you use WordPress, you could use Gutenberg, or choose one of the best WordPress page builders.
3. Choose a theme
Whichever website platform you choose, you can use a prebuilt theme or template to get started.
If you are using WordPress, you can check out the Envato marketplace for affordable, but stylish themes.
Choose a theme that matches your brand imagery and brand story.
4. Create your content
Once you have your website setup and theme sorted, it is time to get your content together.
Select all the visual content you will upload. You can find plenty of beautiful and high-quality visuals from Canva’s content library.
Ensure that you write SEO-friendly content for your website as per your brand messaging architecture.
If your content is optimized for SEO and you work on your search engine positioning, you will have a better chance of getting high search engine rankings.

How long does it take to build a 5-page website?
The time it takes to build a 5-page website depends on the customizations you want to do for your small business website.
If you want a simple site with only brand and content customizations, it can be done in a few days, but if you want very custom functionalities, it can take a few weeks.
How many pages should a website have?
The number of pages you should have on your website depends on your website objective.

5-page website design conclusion
Every brand and business needs to have a presence online, websites are still extremely relevant.
Having only a social media profile on Instagram or Twitter is not enough to establish credibility or grow your business. Check out my post on why is a website important for small businesses.
A 5-page website design will not be enough to get your website noticed by Google or other search engines or to get enough traffic to drive conversions. However, it will be enough to tell the world in a very easy way that you exist.
So if you have limited resources, set up a 5-page website! You have a lot of information above to get it done.
However, if you want to grow your business with digital marketing, ensure that you build a complete website, optimize your website, do proper website maintenance, and update your website regularly with fresh content.
In some cases, a website redesign may also help to improve your website significantly for SEO and conversions.
What kind of website do you have for your small business? Did you make it yourself, or hire a professional to do it?

I dig this idea Poulomi because right now my focus is on publishing helpful, targeted content to sell my Gumroad blogging course and blogging eBooks. Minimalism. I publish content, promote with some course and eBook links and basically stripped everything else from my blog over the prior 3 weeks.
