Raven Tools was created in 2007 and, like many SEO tools, provides detailed data for extensive keyword research, competitor research, backlink analysis, website audits, and more.

It provides data on more than two search engines, including Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and Baidu.

While it’s not the cheapest SEO tool, Raven Tools is cheaper than both the tier-A tools like Semrush, Ahrefs, Moz, and also tier-B tools like SE Ranking, SEO Powersuite, etc.

You can also get a 7-day free trial on all its plans. This is one thing I look out for in every digital tool I sign up for because it proves one thing – the platform is confident in how powerful their tool is.

Semrush has been a top industry player in the SEO market for a long time now, and this isn’t a coincidence. Its wide range of features, data, and capabilities makes it a favorite of many SEOs, marketers, and business owners.

While it started as an SEO tool, Semrush has evolved into an all-in-one digital marketing tool, enabling you to perform PPC advertising, social media optimization, SEO, and lots more. You can read more about what you can do with Semrush in my full overview.

Semrush provides detailed data from Google to enable you to do extensive research for your content marketing activities.

With pricing starting at $129.95 per month, Semrush might seem quite expensive. However, if you look at the range of tools and data it offers, you can see it’s fairly priced for the value it offers.

It also offers a 7-day free trial on its Pro and Guru Plans.

To follow this comparison, getting free trials of both tools might be helpful, if you don’t have those yet. So, let’s start with that.

Raven Tools and Semrush provide 7-day free trials to enable you to access their premium tools at no cost.

The free trial package offered by Raven Tools, however, is limited. You can barely do much with it, as you’d keep getting “no results” in most of your analysis. This is worrying, as a free trial is supposed to give you the same access as a paid subscription, only for a limited time.

The Semrush free trial is straightforward and promises to give you complete access to its tools and features. There’s no functionality limitation.

Raven Tool’s Keyword Rank Checker tool enables you to research a competitor’s entire domain or isolate one page to identify important keyword information, such as their rank position, estimated traffic, traffic cost, and SERP features.

Semrush, on the other hand, provides a more robust keyword research tool. Its database contains over 25.7 billion keywords.

Once you enter a keyword on Semrush’s Keyword Overview tool, it provides a detailed snapshot that contains the vital data you need.

In the snapshot, you’ll see the keyword search volume, difficulty, competitive density, CPC, and even the global volume. You’d get way more information than is available on Raven Tools.

It’s easy to navigate. Although it provides less information than Semrush, it presents it simply that even beginners will understand.

Semrush, on the other hand, has a steeper learning curve due to its extensive features and depth of data. It presents data in detailed formats, adding graphs, trends, and other graphics to help you understand the information better.

While this makes it more difficult for beginners to navigate, it provides a great user experience to those with some SEO experience, as they can gain detailed insights to guide their SEO activities.
