Are you looking for a Canva student discount to access premium features? In this post, I’ll break down everything you need to know about Canva’s offers for students and how you can gain access to them.
Is Canva Pro Free for Students?
Canva Pro is free for students in primary and secondary schools, but it’s called Canva for Education, not Canva Pro. Students in colleges and universities can access Canva Pro for free only with Canva for Campus, if their university has signed up for it. Otherwise, they need to sign up for a regular Canva Pro plan or use Canva’s free version.
What is Canva for Education?
Canva for Education is a special plan of Canva that includes all the features of Canva Pro, along with additional resources like educational templates and integrations that students usually need.
It is 100% free for primary and secondary students, but the students cannot sign up themselves. The teacher has to sign up with their educational email address, get verified, and then share the access link with their students.
Canva for Education is NOT available for students in colleges and universities, but more on that later.
How to Access Canva for Education
If you’re a primary or secondary school student, you’ll need your teacher to sign up for Canva for Education. They will have to provide necessary documents to get verified.
Once they’re approved, they can invite you to join. This ensures that only verified educational accounts gain access.
Steps for Teachers:
- Go to Canva for Education and start the verification process with an official school email address.
- Fill in your details to complete verification and gain access.
- Once verified, you can create lesson plans, access specialized templates, and even integrate with learning platforms like Google Classroom, D2L, and Microsoft Teams.
- You can then invite your students to join Canva for Education and access these resources.
Is there a Canva student discount for college or university students?
Canva doesn’t offer individual discounts for higher education students, but you can get free access through Canva for Campus if your university has a subscription to it. Canva for Campus is a separate program for students in higher education (college or university).
So, as a student, you need to know this:
- You cannot sign up for Canva for Campus, only your college or university can do it.
- Once your institution is signed up, you can inquire with your IT or administration department to receive an invite.
- You don’t have to pay
If your university doesn’t have Canva for Campus, you will have to sign up for Canva Pro with a paid subscription or use Canva’s free version.
